New polling ahead of South Africa’s 2026 local government elections reveals a major warning for the ANC—and a potentially powerful new coalition in Tshwane.
According to the latest voter polling discussed in this video, the DA is sitting at 43% in Tshwane, the ANC at 32%, and the Freedom Front Plus at 8%. If these numbers hold, the DA and FF Plus could form a stable governing coalition, with the Freedom Front Plus potentially emerging as an influential political kingmaker.
But the national picture raises an even bigger question. The ANC continues to lose support, while the DA appears unable to grow significantly beyond its established voter base. At the same time, Jacob Zuma, Julius Malema and several other prominent political leaders face deeply negative public favourability ratings.
Where are South Africa’s politically homeless voters going—and is the country waiting for a credible conservative, capitalist and free-market alternative?
In this video, I examine the latest South African election polls, the decline of the ANC, the DA’s political ceiling, the growth of the MK Party, the future of the GNU and what a DA–FF Plus coalition could mean for Tshwane. I also explore why Patrice Motsepe’s favourability rating may reveal a deeper appetite among ordinary South Africans for entrepreneurship, individual freedom and economic opportunity.
