South Africa’s unemployment crisis is getting worse. The latest Stats SA Quarterly Labour Force Survey for Q2 2026 reveals further job losses, a shrinking employment base and an economy increasingly unable to absorb new workers.
In this video, I break down the Q2 2026 labour figures in simple terms and explain what they mean for ordinary South Africans. Only around four out of every ten working-age South Africans are employed, while manufacturing, mining, agriculture and other vital sectors continue to shed jobs.
We also examine why South Africa is struggling to attract foreign investment and create sustainable employment. Crumbling infrastructure, expensive electricity, failing railways and ports, restrictive labour laws, BEE requirements and mounting government regulation have all made it increasingly difficult to operate and expand businesses in the country.
Can the ANC reverse South Africa’s economic decline, or will its policies deepen unemployment, poverty and social instability?
