Who we are Grassroots Mzansi is a Section 18A registered Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) established in 2024 to bridge the gap between funders and credible, community-led initiatives across South Africa. We make giving easier, safer, and more measurable by combining professional fund management with transparent project delivery support. In response to Minister Gayton McKenzie’s call for South Africans to take action, Grassroots Mzansi connects people in need with private and corporate sponsors, tracking every contribution with a clear scorecard. It’s time to step up for your hometowns, communities, and those with limited opportunities. Sports, arts & culture are powerful tools to help our youth learn, grow, and thrive. With sport, there is hope; with hope, there is life! What we do Grassroots Mzansi connects private and corporate sponsors with vetted grassroots partners and manages contributions through a clear scorecard that tracks every rand from commitment to outcome. Funders receive structured monitoring and evaluation (M&E), evidence-based reporting, and high-level impact updates that build trust and enable better decision-making. Eligible donors can also claim tax benefits via a Section 18A certificate, reducing the effective cost of giving. Our focus is simple: uplift communities with limited opportunities by backing initiatives that use sport, arts, and culture to create real-world pathways for young people. We do not just raise funds. We match them to real needs, coordinate implementation, measure results, and tell the stories that inspire more action through Truth Report. With Grassroots Mzansi, funders gain a credible intermediary and reporting partner, and communities gain consistent, accountable support. With sport, there is hope. With hope, there is life. Our audit is built around the core documents funders typically require for approval, including registration vetting, tax compliance, governance, financial controls, project plans and budgets, M&E and impact evidence, operational policies, and community verification. Our checklist outlines the key organisational and supporting documents commonly required when applying for funding from corporate, government, and foundation funders. Document requirements vary depending on the size, type, and risk profile of the funding request. Smaller grants may require a lighter set of documents, while larger investments require deeper verification and supporting evidence.
