Harris flies the SA flag at Wimbledon
Injuries have ravaged 28-year-old Lloyd Harris in recent seasons, but the Capetonian seems back to full fitness at arguably his favourite slam of the year. Ranked as high as 31 in the world in 2021, Harris is now ranked 314th.
He’s already cleared one big hurdle this year, beating talented Belgian Zizou Bergs in four tight sets; the first three were all tie-breakers.
His next assignment is even tougher, a second round clash with 14th seed, the big-hitting but sometimes temperamental Andrey Rublev. This Russian is a player of pedigree, a man who has reached the quarter-finals of all four Grand Slams, and has been ranked inside the world’s top five.
When does Harris face Rublev at Wimbledon?
Lloyd Harris’ meeting with Andrey Rublev in the second round of Wimbledon is scheduled for Wednesday 02 July. The pair will play second on Court 3 after Vikoriya Tomova vs Sonay Kartal which gets underway at 12:00 CAT.
