The state is slowly inserting itself into the church, and it is doing so under the disguise of “protecting” the public.
The newly announced CRL Rights Commission’s peer review system may sound harmless, but history teaches us to be suspicious when government begins deciding who may preach, what may be preached, and how religious communities must operate. Every society that allowed the state to “supervise” faith ended up losing it. This is not about stability or safety. It is about control.
Once the state gains power over faith, speech is next. Then belief. Then conscience. Today it’s a committee. Tomorrow it could be a licence to preach, approved only for those whose messages align with whatever ideology sits in office. And the most alarming part? Many people are asleep, trusting that the same government that has failed schools, hospitals, policing, and the economy will somehow “fix” the church. It will not. It will silence it.
In this conversation, Joe sits down with Andre Farro, who does not soften his words, to expose the real danger in Section 22 and why every believer, Christian or not, should be alarmed. South Africa was built on free worship, independent churches, and spiritual communities that strengthened society from the ground up. If we surrender that, everything connected to freedom collapses next. Stay alert. Stay vocal. Defend your right to worship freely before it becomes something you used to have.
